What Do I Miss the Most?

Nairobi, Kenya

With four weeks left in my fellowship, I’ve been daydreaming about what I’ll be most excited about when I get home.   Looking at my list I’m a little embarrassed.  It’s official.  I’m a total yuppie.   Go ahead and judge.  I cannot wait to embrace my yuppieness in a month!

  • Tap water
  • My sonic care toothbrush
  • My car.  This one really surprised me since I hate driving, but not having a car makes daytripping difficult.  I’ve seen one Audi in last 3 months, and I wanted to hug it. After riding in overcrowded matatus with my feet resting on engines so hot I thought my flip flops would melt, I can’t wait to get my car back.
  • Sushi
  • Soft, fluffy towels.  After washing a towel 3+ times here, it’s as pleasant as drying off with cardboard.
  • Pilates
  • A clean apartment
  • High speed internet
  • High thread count bed linings
  • Really great wine
  • Nice, hoppy beer
  • Daily Show/ Colbert Report

  1. I truly admire all that you have experienced and accomplished but I like you would really miss my wine so I’m headed off to Provence in a week. I’m a spoiled old lady who will be tooling through southern France in a cushy rental car, with plenty of wine stops along the way! Enjoy all the comforts you have missed the last few months……you deserve them!
